Making Restoration Easier and Enhancing Data Availability for Design Houses

Background

With 5 partners, Jukebox Design is a small design production house located in a basement of a house owned by one of its founders, Michael Ho. Jukebox Design runs a wide range of services including CIS design, advertisement, promotions, packaging, exhibitions, websites, and more, for general commodities to luxury goods.

Jukebox Design is a SOHO dedicated to delivering the best visual art and most creative design implemented for its clients who have high quality demands for their campaigns. Its expertise in computer-based graphics, and design and multi-media, helps meet requirements for all kinds of clients.

The team works closely with their clients to understand their needs and objectives, and once in a while they even work during weekends and holidays to generate masterpieces for clients’ events. The members of Jukebox Design carefully build their portfolios and design databases.

Problem

Due to the growing business, the sales executives and designers of Jukebox Design are dependant on their graphic tools to conduct their day-to-day cases. The valuable resources for designers must be maintained carefully because they contain accurate and important portfolios as well as an extensive clip art and graphics database created in programs such as Adobe Photoshop.

Losing this database—their livelihood—would be a disaster. Michael considered a new backup solution requiring little user intervention, ease of use, of course, and a high level of reliability and security. Michael used to operate Symantec Norten’s Ghost, but found the manipulation too complex and resulted in his coworkers neglecting the backup software.

4 out of 5 coworkers had fulltime daytime jobs, and they may go on working at Jukebox Design after their main occupation; therefore, Michael looked for a fast solution that offers immediate access to their work and doesn’t have to worry about whether he is in town or not.

Solution

One day, Michael’s assistant, Amy, after taking 5 days modifying the product images for a catalogue design, unintentionally deleted the Image folder while rearranging her folders. She immediately plugged in an EXB-0131. Through the USB port, it didn’t take long to track the last version of her Image folder. “I breathed a sigh of relief and the EXB-0131 retrieved everything!” said Amy. “It was really fast! All of my Image folders appeared again on my desktop!”

In addition to instant recovery, Michael loves to use the EXB-0131 to perform a complete backup of the entire host OS, applications, and data at all times. Whenever it has a hard drive failure, he doesn’t have to be there to take care of all the installation and restoration jobs. The software eliminated the hassle of backing up and restoring to enhance the small company’s productivity.

Summary

“It was important for designers like us to have a powerful yet easy backup solutions because we deal with storage without an IT specialists’ assistance,” said Michael. “The EXB-0131 is really a great help to us. It helps us to recover instantly and get back to work in every emergency, and as long as the backup schedule is set, we can even press one button to trigger the configured backup mode without being manipulated by the UI or monitor.”

Jukebox Design regularly performs incremental backups without any effort. Each time the unit is scheduled, the EXB-0131 automatically scans the hard drives of the host and copies those files that have been changed or newly created since the last backup was performed. Michael and his partners feel relieved by using this automatic backup software.
